Salt Solution pH Classifier
Predict acidic / basic / neutral pH of a salt solution.
Predict whether a salt produces an acidic, basic, or neutral solution by inputting the strength of the parent acid and parent base. Returns a band code and a brief explanation of cation/anion hydrolysis.
How to use this calculator
- Fill in the inputs above using the units you already have.
- Values update automatically as you type — no submit button needed.
- Hover any result row for the underlying formula and intermediate values.
Formula
Strong acid + strong base → neutral. Strong acid + weak base → acidic. Weak acid + strong base → basic. Weak + weak depends on Ka vs Kb.
